Change takes about five minutes, give or take. Follow me to the ‘Changing Room’, get in a cage, and click the button when you drink the serum. “Do… Do you mind if I keep my clothes on when I take this, taking them off as I change?” She asked with a small smile. We keep a very detailed timetable of when we need to pick up our transformed employees. “Remember that tiger cub we had you ‘retrieve’ during training? That was Janny, from HR. “I can imagine! But how does the change back happen? Is it safe?” Doesn’t pay well, but you get housing, food, company… Lotta people get used to it.” As a matter of fact, more than a few of our animals are employees, so to speak. “Trust me, you’ll find this is pretty enjoyable. You did tell me you liked them.” Tommy grinned. “So… You want me to change into a monkey?” Li nodded with understanding, looking down to the vial. “Makes a difference when you’re wondering how certain animals act, let me tell you that.” You drink this, you really change-and unlike other serums, you remember everything when you change back.” He tapped his head. “Like that, but with instincts turned up to 11. It’s a little transformative juice, proprietary stuff.” Tommy laughed, no doubt reading her mind.
Were her suspicions correct, she was about to ingest some sort of urine.
“What, I have to drink this? What is it?” Bad images of her sorority hazing started to fill her mind experiences that had left her quite wary of ‘rites of passage’ like this. Li picked it from his hands, looking at the vial warily. “Tonight’s your first night working alone, right? This is a little rite of passage for you.” He was swirling a small test tube in his hands, and the Asian girl looked at him with a wry smile. The voice of her mentor startled her into the present, and she grinned at the middle-aged man leaning on a wall across from her. She’d just need to keep at it, and she’d be friends with them for sure. Who knew working the ape exhibit at the National Zoo was so easy? Hell, all of the animals seemed to love the guards-even though they were a little cautious of her. This was her first real day on the job, and she was totally killing it. Li smiled as she paced through the exhibits at her new job.
